Horrors of Junji Itou

Since 2019 I have been reading mangas and the writer that has taken a huge spot in my mind is Junji Itou. His each and every work is well written and really fascinating. It makes me wonder how he always comes up with his mangas. 

Tomie

His most famous manga is Tomie and it sure does live up to it's fame.

It starts with a girl named Tomie who is strikingly beautiful. The mole under her left eye is what makes her even more breathtaking.  She takes away the breathe of other's not only by her beauty but also by killing them, taking their breath away quite literally.
In my opinion they kind of deserves it as they started it. One of Tomie's class teacher made her pregnant and there was a fight regarding this as a result Tomie fell off a cliff and hit her head. But she was still alive. The entire class did not want to reveal the fact that Tomie died so the entire class dissected her even though she was alive, even though she was asking for help.

After that they each took a body part of Tomie and hid it where no one will find it. 

 As a result, Tomie who is definitely not alive started to take revenge on those who took part in this heinous act. This manga is horrifying. It illustrates the true human natures like pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth.

Uzumaki

Another manga that gave me chills down my spine is Uzumaki. The Japanese word "Uzumaki" means spiral. The story starts with a teacher who is obsessed with spirals, it cannot be called obsession as it is more than obsession. The son of that teacher thinks that the town is the problem, as the entire town is filled with paranormal spirals. 

  

In this part, the teacher can be seen turning himself into a spiral, as he thought that there is not enough spiral in his life. This part really made me nauseous.

Then there was a couple who intertwined with each other when their family did not accept their love. This was truly gut wrenching.   

Other than these two mangas, there's a lot of mangas written by this well known mangaka. But I would say this two is my favorite.

Now I am going to talk about Junji Itou's art style. His art style is so different from other mangakas, that one can identify his works just by seeing the panels.  

Each and every detail is so well drawn and mesmerizing. 

I think, I might be kinda obsessed with the works of Junji Itou. I mean, once you start reading one of his mangas, you too will not be able to get over him. I will suggest everyone to read his mangas.
