5th August (A day to remember)

At this point in time we all are no strangers to what happened the last few weeks/months in our country. A simple quota movement for regular students turned into become a nationwide protest for the resignation for the government in power. All things come to an end one day and for this movement 5th August was that day.

(As of today (5th September) it’s been exactly a month since it happened..still feels like yesterday to me.)This movement personally was a very important time of my life as not only me everyone from my friends to family were very much affiliated with it. If I recall what happened on 5th August the first thing that came to my mind was the random internet outage. This stayed the same till something like 1:30 PM.While that was going on at 11:30 I get a call from my friend saying that the prime minister had fled the country and protestors were celebrating on the streets.Few minutes later another call came from another friend saying the same thing..then every TV channel started to say that The Army Chief had something to say...at that point it became glaringly obvious. I rushed and decided to go to the Dhaka University Area.Outside it felt like everyone came down to the streets..I saw groups of people forming victory rallies.By the time I reached DU it truly felt like the nation came together and got their second Independence....felt like a million people had gathered aging from children to Senior Citizens, men and women no one was left behind.

People climbed on top of the Raju Vashkarja,Waving their flags and giving different kinds of slogans

Then I went to Shahid Minar and there was a even bigger gathering there... like a sea of people coming there for one motive one reason

Even to this day I get chills thinking about the day.The moment, the experience, the unity that I felt among everyone  was truly divine. It felt everyone from different groups, different backgrounds, different religions were a single entity all had the same feeling for their motherland

5th August has truly been immortalized in the history of Bangladesh
